Metal music is believed to be evolved since the late sixties. It is a popular form of music in places like Europe and North America. With time this music has globalized in various parts of the world. However, Metal music in Nepal has its first impression during the late 1990s and has been hitting the road.
Early metal gigs were limited to very few audiences, primarily friends and well-wishers of the bands performing. Such musical genres weren’t preferences among people. It was still an alien to them. The sound system in gigs used to be a minus point always. Media coverage was out of the question. Despite such struggles, there used to be gigs held in a year, although it remains underground. It was the early days of metal music in Nepal. Despite such complicated days, Metal music continues to embrace an arduous but glorious journey ahead. It was possible only due to the brainchild of a metal lover in the form of a magazine called KtmROCKS. If anything to go by, KtmROCKS is responsible for music like Metal having its scene. The magazine was the first to display underground Metal in the country.KtmROCKS organized various events through which many metal Bands get a platform to showcase their talents. The magazine gained cult status among the selective people as underground reach is foreign to many.
The popularity of this kind of music has been increasing unanimously. Cruentus, Ugrakarma, Antim Grahan, Equals, Jindabaad, and Underside, evolved and even drew a positive response inside and outside the country. Slowly, the scene began to grow from a turnouts of  hundreds to thousands. The media started showing interest and updating the local bands and gigs. Many youths began dreaming of becoming a musician. Today, If we notice the Inter-College band competitions organized by various colleges and others, We will see a majority of bands from the Rock or Metal genre. It seems to be a very acknowledging thing.
On the Contrary, Remembering the early metal scene when a Concert used to be out of the league currently boasts a few prominent annual events like Ides of March, Silence festival, Nepfest, and a few Inter-College band Competitions organized by various Colleges under the association of KtmRocks.Even outside of Kathmandu, metal music has got its roots. Places like Pokhara, Hetauda, Dharan, etc., organize numerous gigs. Hence, spreading the music scene to a broader audience. The underground scene, without a doubt, is progressing day by day.
 
However, due to Economic problems, KtmROCKS magazine was printed until after its 13^th issue. The magazine became a periodical E-mag made available through the Ktm rocks website. Other activities of KtmROCKS, however, continued till 2013. With the arrival of Silence Entertainment, Nepal became the host for various International Metal acts like Vader, Textures, Behemoth, Sikth, Decapitated(Organized by Nepfest), and Various other International metal Bands at the Name of Silence festival. Inviting International Artiste was a far cry before, but the perspectives are changing now due to Silence Festivals. With yearly events like Silence festivals on their way, the Nepalese Underground revolution has hit the right chord. It has, in one way, creating a legacy in Nepal Underground Scene. With more Optimism towards having a well Known figure to headline the Silence festival each year, We metalheads are all thankful to them for what they have done for the development of Nepalese metal Culture.
